Giants Lose 3 out of 4 Against Colorado

The Giants have now really lowered their chance in getting to the playoffs by losing 3 out of 4 of the games played in Colorado against the Rockies, the NL Wild Card leader. Going into the game, the Giants were only 2 games behind the Rockies. They won the first game 10-6 and cut the lead to 1 game, but due to mistakes and lack of run support they could not win the next 3 games. After a 3-games series against the Arizona Diamondbacks they play another series against Colorado, this time in San Francisco. While it looks like there is little chance of making a playoff run, the Dodgers are struggling and are only leading by 3 games over Colorado, but still 7 over the Giants.

49ers Win The Battle of the Bay 21-20

Yet Another Game Won by a Missed 2-point Conversion by the other Team.

Lets Look at some key points of this win

Glenn Coffee ran for 100+ Yards

5 Forced Turnovers ( 3 interceptions and 2 forced fumbles)

Nate Davis Doing Well

Defense is coming around

But The Bad Part is that the quarterback competition isnt coming along that well and Crabtree isn't one step closer to signing than a few days ago. Time is running out with only 2 unsigned 1st drafts

Brett Favre is Back...Again (sigh)

We all thought Brett Favre (or Farve?) was officially retired around 2 weeks ago when he announced he would stay retired rather than play for the Vikings. Of course, you can't listen to him, last year he said the same thing and ended up playing for the Jets. Well, yesterday, it happened again. Favre officially signed with the Minnesota Vikings. Even though they have 2 quarterbacks competing for the starting job with Sage Rosenfels and Tarvaris Jackson (last year's starter), they still decided to bring in Favre. Now that they have 4 quarterbacks in total, one has to be cut or traded before the regular season starts. Reports say that the Vikings really like 3rd string QB John David Booty and they also like Rosenfels. That leaves Tarvaris Jackson, arguably their best QB before Favre came to probably being cut. Now are the Vikings doing something wrong or are they making their chances for a playoff run bigger???

Giants Split 4 Game-series with the Mets

After yesterday's 10-1 win for the Giants, they split the 4-game series with the New York Mets. In the first game of the series, the Giants got shut out by the Mets 3-0, even though pitcher Barry Zito only allowed 3 runs in his start. In the second game of the series, the Giants had an early lead, but gave it up late and allowed the Mets to tie the game and force it into extra innings. In the top of the 10th inning, Bengie Molina was up to bat and hit a home-run that gave them a one run lead and proved to be the game-winning hit. During the 3rd game of the 4-game series, the Giants pitcher Jonathan Sanchez had another quality start allowing 2 runs and Randy Winn tied the game for the Giants late, but in the 9th inning their bullpen gave it up. In the bottom of the 9th, Mets' Daniel Murphy hit a walk-off base hit off of one of the best Giants relievers, Jeremy Affeldt. In the last game of the series in New York, the Giants blew out the Mets 10-1 and split the series with the Mets. Starter Joe Martinez only gave up one run in 5 innings pitched and got his 2nd win as a starter in the MLB, thanks to a much needed Aaron Rowand home run, Nate Schierholtz's double, Edgar Renteria's single, and a bunch of hits off of Livan Hernandez. So now the Giants look to try to win a series in Cincinnati against the Reds.

One of the Most Intense Heisman Races?

You Tell Me.

Is this one of the most intense and competitive Heisman races ever?

Well, lets look at the facts shall we?

  • Three of last years finalists, Colt McCoy, Sam Bradford, and Tim Tebow are back
  • If thats not tough enough for any dark horse you also have Eric Barry the safety from Tennesee, Cal's explosive Jahvid the Jet Best a no. 4, and Ole Miss' Jevan Snead as one of the top QB's behind the "Returning 3."

But What Are the odds that the returning 3 QB's.... Won't Win?

There is a chance that they won't win because what if they slip, fall, and drop in ranks?

This Probably will happen to most the teams with a Heisman Candidate, but the team with the least mistakes, their team will receive the heisman.

So Lets Take A Look at My No. 4 shall we?

No.4 Jahvid Best, RB, California Golden Bears:

Jahvid the Jet has a great chance of winning the Heisman, in my opinion a 16.5% chance of winning. But we will see very early in the season if he deserves the heisman with the first two Pac-10 games being at Oregon and home to USC. If he manages to win those games, then he has a much larger chance of getting his team to the top of the country and winning the heisman. People under estimate The Jet's ability because they say, " He's in a weak conference" or, " He has the two Washington's and Stanford," but this is one of the hardest conferences out there with the SEC, Big 12, and the Big 10. Jahvid Best's ability to make big plays and average 8.1 yards per carry is more amazing than any tailback in the nation, including CJ Spiller. Even if he isn't in the greatest confrence who else can make these plays on a game to game basis.

49ers Beat Broncos in Preseason Opener.

In the 49ers first preseason game, they squeaked out a win 17-16, thanks to their defense. Alex Smith and Shaun Hill were still battling for the starting QB spot, but none of them pulled ahead of each other. For the Broncos, it was their quarterback Kyle Orton's preseason debut. The 49ers made his day a rocky and a bad one. Kyle Orton didn't throw one interception, not two, but three interceptions. The first one was by Nate Clements in the end zone for a touchback. The others were by newly signed corner back Dre Bly and 2nd year safety Reggie Smith.

What Would Happen If....

What would happen if Don Nelson, Warriors head coach, would change his ways of playing small ball and switch his mind set to a more traditional NBA team?

Let's Find Out.

Team Right Now:

Team One:

PG: Monta Ellis

SG: Stephen Jackson

PF: Anthony Randolph

SF: Corey Maggette

C: Andres Biedrins

Bench Team One:

PG: Stephen Curry

SG: Acie Law

PF: Kelenna Azebuike

SF: Brandon Wright

C: Ronny Turiaf

But What if he switched to a more traditional style?

Team 2#

PG: Monta Ellis

SG: Stephen Jackson

PF: Anthony Randolph

SF: Kelenna Azubuike

C: Andres Biedrins

Bench Team 2#

PG: Stephen Curry

SG: Acie Law or Speedy Claxton

PF: Brandon Wright

SF: Corey Maggette (Or trade him for another player as good as him or for more salary cap)

C: Ronny Turiaf

Now With Slight Team Adjustments they can get more rebounds and play better defense. Don Nelson also has to change his playing style slightly. Cap'n Jackson, "Goose" Biedrins, Randolph, and Kelenna Buike all play good defense, so he should capitalize and make them play more defense. Which means more "Traditional Defense" and less "Sloppy Fast Break Defense." They will still be able to score easily with that line-up if Monta Ellis decides to pass better, but If he decides he wants to be a SG again we can play Curry more. But we all know there are only three things in this world that keep happening over and over again. Death, the Universe, and Don Nelson's stuborness to change his way of small ball.

Thank You, Please Comment and give me your opinion.

Michael Vick Sign With the Eagles.

Finally, the wait is over. Michael Vick has officially signed with the Philadelphia Eagles. He signed a one-year deal with a second year option. The reactions of most Eagles fans were people being mad. Now, that the Eagles have Vick, they are a very dangerous team with McNabb, DeSean Jackson, and now Michael Vick. Good thing no one in the NFC West signed Vick or else the 49ers might not go to the playoffs, ahaha...

Giants Avoid Sweep of the Dodgers

In the Giants-Dodgers rivalry 3-game series, the Dodgers won the first 2 games, but in the 3rd game of the series, the Giants had Tim Lincecum, "The Freak" on the hill. He had one of his best games of the year including striking out his 200th batter, but because of a few controversial calls at 1st base, he got a no decision. The first was Manny being picked off by Bengie Molina, but Gary Darling, the 1st base umpire called him safe. Another one was when Nate Schierholtz was called out but was really safe. In the 9th inning, Darling made the most important missed call, when Lincecum was going for the complete game. Dodgers batter Rafael Furcal grounded a ball to Juan Uribe who clearly threw him out by half a step, but again Darling called him safe, so they went into extra innings. It wouldn't matter though because in the 10th inning, Juan Uribe with Travis Ishikawa on 1st base with one out hit a walk-off home run to win the game 4-2. The benches cleared though when Pablo Sandoval got hit on the shoulder earlier in the game, no one threw any punches.

{RUMOR} Michael Crabtree? Not Getting the Money He Thinks He Deserves?

Michael Crabtree is prepared to sit out the whole season and re-enter the 2010 NFL Draft, or so says his cousin David Wells. The previously unknown David Wells has been speaking for Crabtree so that he can receive about the same money as Heyward-Bey, the 7th round draft pick by the Raiders. Although, he is asking for this money I think it will be very doubtful that he receives it because there's an order in which the players get money and he broke his foot and got picked 10th. Tough luck, Crabtree. His agent, Eugene Parker, has not spoken against Wells should, very well, slap David Wells across his face because he shouldn't speak so boldly, even if it is to help his cousin. On Michael Crabtree's behalf he spoke out to espn.com saying that he did not know who said that and does not negotiate in public. In my opinion, I think David Wells should shut his mouth and Michael Crabtree should sign a contract that the 10th overall pick should deserve. I think that Crabtree will be a great player and he might even be a star, only if he signs that contract. Also, if he decides he wants to listen to Wells, Good Luck on Making more money in next years draft than you will make now if you just SIGN THAT CONTRACT that they want to give you.

*** Commentary From GoWildBearCats.co Follows in the next section

Following Commentary (Week 1)

1. Florida vs. Charleston Southern: The Gators are back with returning Tim Tebow trying to defend their Championship Title. With A Total of 1,466 USA Today BCS Votes the Gators have an easy game against Charleston Southern. In one of the upcoming weeks Urban Meyer and the Gators takes on Lane Kiffin and the Volunteers in a merciless battle in which the gators are not holding back on a young rebuilding team whose coach trash talked Urban Meyer.

5. Alabama vs. Virginia Tech: In the Top 5 this is the only real game unlike the others who are just easy wins. I project the Crimson Tides over VT because I do not think that Virginia Tech has got the stuff to overcome the strong Tides who have experience and they also have a lot of returning players. I see it as a closer game than the rest but really VT's chances of upsetting the Tides are about 1:4 in the Alabama Crimson Tides favor.

10 Ole Miss vs. Memphis: I see Ole Miss as a growing team and should have been placed around 15 in the USA Today Polls, but I can see why they have gotten to number 10 because of their star quarterback. Realistically Memphis does not have any chance of overcoming Ole Miss' great offense and somewhat decent defense. The Odds in my mind if you really want them are 1:37 in Ole Mississippi's favor.

11 Oklahoma State vs. Georgia: Putting Georgia as the winner is a bold decision considering that both Matthew Stafford and Knowshawn Morino had gone into the draft. I still think that Oklahoma State lacks some chemistry so Georgia should win, even though Georgia is a team to test this season after getting key players taken off their team. Both teams could win and the odds are about even. It will be the best game to watch with the SEC team in it.

12 California vs. Maryland: After the embarrasing loss last year to Maryland, Cal has a great chance of putting them away and to have a double digit win season. As most of you know Cal has been going through a lot of change, and I well talk about it with you right now. Cal will be putting Kevin Riley and/or Brock Mansion as starting QB, but having solved one problem there are many left and they have solved them pretty well. The Wide Receivers have improved greatly as last years receiving threat Michael Calvin has fully recovered and last years receivers have started adding some "Spice" or "Salt, Pepper, and Cajun Spice" to their routes after learning to be average WRs. Jahvid Best is returning as a Heisman Candidate and is said to be more explosive than last year. People have been saying that there is a linebacker problem with 3 of them in the draft. There is enough talent on this squad to fill in two of the OLB spot and it LB spot. For the other Outside Linebacker position there is a recruit that plays the OLB position and hes considering to go to Berkely. If he does not come we have other back ups that fill the position. If all of these problems are fixed Cal is in for a winning season and might just top USC... after the Trojans lost so many players to the NFL. I think the odds of Maryland winning this game are 1:3 in Cal's favor.

14 Oregon vs. 16 Boise State: This was another bold decision, but Oregon is losing their control with no good quarterback or tailback and with Boise on the rise this could be a very good game. Boise was really good in their last bowl game and so was Oregon. There really is nothing more to be said about this match but "This is going to be a great game." The odds are about 1:1.09 in Oregon's favor, but Boise might pull it off.

19. Florida State vs. Miami (FL): Florida St. might win this game, but the Hurricanes are a team to watch now. This is going to be a decent game if the Hurricanes' Jacorey Harris is going to execute and find receivers down the stretch. This game could go either way, but right now it is in Florida State's favor just by a little bit. I can't really thing of the odds for this game so I will just say about 1:1.6 in Florida State's favor.

22. Nebraska vs. Florida Atlantic: I wouldn't say this game way going to be "Close", but the Nebraska CornHuskers have been pretty bad on defense and offense in the past two seasons so Florida Atlantic may have a chance. The CornHuskers are an almost rebuilt team as the extremely loyal fans have been waiting for for many years. Nebraska is a team to watch this season as they will be on the rise for a couple years. The odds are probably 1:2 in the Huskers' favor.

23. Notre Dame vs. Nevada: I mean im impartial, but IS THIS A JOKE? Notre Dame is a ranked team? Notre Dame has a weak schedual, but I think the polls can do better than that. They may win this game at Nevada easily, but they dont not have enough chemistry or skill to become a pre-season USA Today Polls ranked team. The Fighting Irish are going to be a good team in a couple of years and are a team to watch, but no way should Notre Dame be ahead of Unranked Kansas, Texas Tech, Michigan State, West Virginia, OR even Mizzou. I think the odds are 1:8 only in Notre Dame's favor, but REALLY a ranked team ahead of the ranked 25 OSU Beavers who where a PAC-10 contender? I don't think so.
